Thank you for your question about our church. It is a little difficult to give an accurate answer simply because different people mean different things by contemporary versus hymnal. The short answer for us is that we try to do both. We love the Trinity hymnal and sing many selections from it, as well as the new hymnal published by MacArthur’s church, Hymns of Grace. In fact, the 2 hymnals overlap significantly. But along with these hymns, we incorporate modern worship music that has a good tune and excellent lyrics. For instance, we frequently do music by the Getty’s and Sovereign Grace music, as well as Chris Anderson. We try to focus on the message of the songs to allow them to take us into God’s presence as an assistance for personal, heart worship.
I hope this helps answer your question. If you have any other questions or would like to talk more about our church, please see our contact us page.
Listening to “Future hope”. Just wondering what type of worship your church has. Contemporary or Hymnal?
